Complete waste of time and energy

Complete waste of time and energy. I'm beginning a new role that requires me to have a transcription tool and the company suggested I source it from Speak-IT Solutions. I'm based in Ireland, but other Irish colleagues had used them before. My address was not accepted on the form and I verified on their website that they offer international delivery before phoning the helpdesk. The woman who answered was very apologetic and said that they'd stopped shipping to this island entirely (i.e. including Northern Ireland, which, as I'd hope you all know, is part of the UK) following Brexit. So the website info is out of date. An obstacle, but thanks to the Irish postal service (An Post) facility AddressPal, not insurmountable. I could use the AddressPal UK hub, and pay them a fee for onwards delivery to me. I ordered the item for delivery to the UK hub and received a confirmation email. Ten calendar days later, I'd expected to hear about its onward transit, but crickets. I downloaded an app to scan a QR code to track my parcel, and the app informed me that my order had been cancelled! Not a word from Speak-IT Solutions. Two phonecalls and several hours later, Sean called me. He said that Elliot must have cancelled my order because it was headed to Ireland. But IT WASN'T. The delivery address was the AddressPal hub at Hatfield, and its subsequent destination is not information Elliot or any of his colleagues had. If there was any concern about my order, why not contact me? It is entirely unacceptable not to have notified me that my expected order had simply evaporated. Sean summoned up a limp apology only after some sharp tones and uncomfortable silences. He offered to send a payment link for next-day delivery to Hatfield, but when this new invoice arrived it didn't state the product (only my previous order number on the item line) and the price had increased. That was me done. I ordered from a competitor my employer had not mentioned, for the same original price, and a day later my item is already in the hands of AddressPal. This appalling customer service has delayed my start date and I'll advise the company to amend their recommended supplier. I wish I'd read these reviews before I tried to give Speak-IT Solutions my business.

Avoid Very Poor customer service

Avoid Very Poor customer service , purchased ad Speak It Mini personal body cab for a family members, works for few days then whirl not record and help turning off, called spoke to some who suggested send back for repair or replacement or refund, highlighted if quick easy fix please repair if not send replacement, after 2 weeks no response or update, chased and spoke to a very rude and unprofessional lady who had zero customer service experience and did not understand what i was asking, i asked for an update, and as its been 2 weeks please just send a replacement or refund the money and i buy another camera form you no problem, she spent 30 mins trying to undernsd i needed a camera and as they still had not checke3d and i was not expecting such a long wait refund and i will buy another, was promised an update by end of day, got an email saying we will have refunded you, she never called back, they did not care they had camera there for 2 weeks, and we ended a replacement, i should have just a skid for refund and owed replacement buy did not realise these people would take such along time and then no update and then rude, i went onto ebay found another seller purchased another camera half the price arrived in 2 days job done, such a shame these guys have been around since 1995 and have hired people who are not fit enough to make tea to deal with customer service, i would avoid this company bad experience, poor aftercare / zero aftercare / zero help, not interested in helping, had they called back i would have ordered another camera, best to satay away as mine did not work, kept turning off you think its recording but its not probably abad batch from china but at least try helping you silly people.

Great start. Unfortunately, not so good aftercare

It's a real shame to have to provide a poor review. Things started out well with great service getting a specialist microphone delivered very quickly: I wanted to support a business that focused on helping people who needed assistance accessing technology effectively. A month or so later, the microphone stopped working entirely - and a simple test of recording your own voice showed that it had clearly developed a fault. It was then harder to engage with SpeakIT and work out how to get the microphone repaired / replaced. Once it had been sent to them, sadly, two things happened: 1) Extremely sluggish responses to multiple chasers. 2) A position that it was entirely fine after testing. After further chasers to actually get it sent back to me (a process that in the end lasted over five weeks from first contact), I now have a relatively expensive microphone that will sit in its box having had to be replaced with one that works from another supplier. I wish my experience had been better; it had every chance to be, but sadly I would recommend purchasing from a larger store with hopefully more customer-focused aftercare. I've also just noticed that I've posted this review against SpeakIT, and now seen the feedback on Speak-IT Solutions here. I wish I'd read this before ordering.

**AVOID AT ALL COSTS**

I required a new headset with very short notice for an extremely important meeting on Saturday 12 October. I conducted research and came across Speak iT Solutions who had the equipment in stock and guaranteed next day delivery. I made an order (for Plantronics - Voyager 5200 UC Headset) at 11:42 on Thursday 10 October to ensure I would receive the item the following day (their website stated I needed to do that before 16:00 to guarantee delivery on Friday 11 October). However, to my absolute horror and dismay, I received an email at 17:43 on Thursday stating “the item ordered is not currently in stock… as such, next day delivery will not be possible”. So – instead of notifying me immediately that there was an issue – they waited OVER 6 HOURS to contact me which meant I had no time to place an order through any other supplier to ensure I had the equipment when desperately needed. Had the Speak iT Solutions website confirmed it was out of stock then I would have had the opportunity to purchase it elsewhere in the first instance and avoid all of this material distress and inconvenience. I feel that this company has purposely misled me into making an order so I had to spend additional money before I received any refund from them; causing completely unnecessary financial harm. To be frank, it is an absolute disgrace and a simple search verifies that, at the time of writing, 83% of their customers have rated provided 1* reviews on Trustpilot and, having never ordered through them before, I can guarantee I never will again. I have now purchased the same item through a different, more reputable company with far superior reviews (for £77.54 cheaper than what Speak iT Solutions had charged).

Not worth the stress

Unfortunately If you are unfortunate enough to purchase a damaged item from this company you will not receive a replacement or a refund. What you will receive is an email stating the following: "I'm afraid that the device would not have left us in this condition; the pins may have been bent when pushing the two parts of the cable together, as you need to be careful to line both of the flat sides up before connecting. We won't be able to issue a replacement, you may however be able to straighten them out (e.g. with a set of tweezers). " I do not believe they intentionally sold me a damaged item (Olympus Foot pedal that had bent pins in the cord). However as a Vendor they are responsible to replace and or refund for the damaged item. ( I only asked for a replacement) I have learned 2 valuable lessons: NEVER PURCHASE FROM A COMPANY THAT DOES NOT HAVE A CLEARLY STATED RETURN POLICY ON THERE WEBSITE. PAYING A BIT MORE IS WORTH THE SECURITY OF KNOWING IF ON THE RARE OCCASION A PURCHASE IS DAMGED YOU AS THE CUSTOMER WILL BE MADE WHOLE.

Great service - never had a problem in all the years I've bought from them

I read the 1 star reviews, and find it hard to believe they're talking about the same company. I've used Speak IT for many years for our dictation/transcription needs, they have never let me down, every next day delivery has arrived the next day.

Sean Quiney

Sean Quiney, the boss, is an absolute nightmare to deal with, he wants to argue, has no clue about distance selling regulations and that he should pay return postage when it is his mistake. But alas won't even admit to his mistake, in our initial call he asked me if i had a BT wall socket which i do, he did not ask me if i had a VOIP adaptor upstream which i gather is now my fault. For starters the "BT Wall Socket" is actually an Openreach socket so on all accounts there was no precision in his questions and the initial call, all too brief. Bottom line is I DO HAVE A "BT/ Openreach wall socket" and the item he sold me does not work with it due to the VOIP adapter upstream. A shame, as i would much rather spend money with small businesses than Amazon/ Ebay and the like but with treatment like this i simply cannot afford to. I am not paying return postage for this item so will sell it on ebay/ marketplace as it's easier than dealing with Sean. Amazon returns process, dream on! Don't touch this company!

terrible customer service, next day delivery took a week

Needed this software for a very important job, checked a few companies to see who could offer next day delivery. website stated next day delivery guaranteed if ordered before 2pm. ordered and paid 11am Thursday. phoned on friday to enquire why it hadn't arrived, was fobbed off on phone :-(...... item wasn't even posted until 17.02pm Tuesday, so didn't arrive until Thursday 11 am..... 1 week to the day I do recommend this product, but i do not recommend the company Don't offer next day delivery, if you can't deliver :-((

Impossible to deal with,

Impossible to deal with, Purchased an Olympus dictaphone 8th March 2022 23rd March still not received the goods, Stock response is we shipped them! , We need royal mail to confirm what they have done with them, each time I call chasing my goods, same reply, I think they are hoping I will go away and leave them with my Money ,or that I will speak to Royal Mail on their behalf.and find out where my parcel is, never again.

AVOID SPEAK-IT

Bought a dictaphone for £300. I place order on a Thursday morning and had received nothing by the following Tuesday. I called to see if it had been dispatched and was informed that I should have paid for next day delivery and would have to wait. I know this was nonsense as friend ordered the exact same item from them on the say day with next day delivery and was told it wasn't in stock for next day delivery and that he would be refunded the postage! Clearly attempting to scam. I have requested a refund.

Avoid these cowboys

I bought a Boblov X1 body camera boasting up to 10 hours battery life. Speak IT solutions either sent me a faulty one or , as the instructions sent with it state, an older A22 model with less than 2 hours battery life. The have been thoroughly dishonest in avoiding answering my complaints and refuse to give me a refund. I’m guessing I’ll be seeing them in the small claims court soon. Avoid these cowboys like the plague.

Sold item that they do not even have in stock...

Bought a dictaphone for £300. Order placed six days ago on a Thursday evening. I had received nothing by Monday so emailed to enquire if it had been sent. No reply received. I called on Today/Tuesday to see if it had been dispatched and was informed they did not even have it in stock and were awaiting delivery. I was informed this was entirely acceptable as it was free delivery which is 5-7 working days. They were not apologetic. Their website states clearly they aim for free same day dispatch on order over £150 as below. Their was no note on the website or during the purchase that they did not have the item in stock. I have had to cancel the order and have been told they are processing a refund. The website states for delivery- "Free Delivery This is a signed for delivery service. Depending on the size of your order, we will aim to dispatch your item on the same day. This free service applies to order of over £150.00 for delivery within the UK Only."

Awful Product & Service

By far the worst purchase I've ever made, for £406 dictaphone I expected a lot more from this product. No one tells you that the downloads don't work with Mac. Emailed Speak IT a couple of times with no response. Unable to set it up I requested a refund only to be told that I cannot get the full amount and have to pay £120 for a license key that I didn't know I had, which I can't use without the product and is absolutely no use to me! I've checked and nowhere on any point of sale, the website or any correspondence was this mentioned. Best part is when put through to a senior member of staff they talked over me on the call so I was unable to explain my situation and then put the phone down on me. It's ironic they are called Speak IT Solutions when all they did was speak over me and were unable to find a solution!! I was also informed that there is a 20% charge on returns on machines - be careful before purchasing from this company. I was recommended by a government run scheme to purchase the product from Speak IT Solutions, I'll be sharing my experience with them and ensuring that assessors do not recommend them anymore!

AVOID and pay more elsewhere

Ordered headets from them which showed as available for next day delivery. The order then took 4 days to arrive. When setting the headsets up, one does not work (bluetooth adaptor broken). They then advised they would need to receive this back and investigate before offering a replacement. In the meantime I am a headset short - worst customer service. In future I'd rather pay more for the product and avoid the inconvenience of dealing with this company

Indeed as per other reviews here, terms and conditions are at best in breach of the Unfair Contract Terms Act of 1977. Be extremely careful when ordering so that you do not fall foul.

Good service and products (INFINITY USB-3 foot pedal + software)

I bought the INFINITY USB-3 foot pedal and the Express Scribe Pro software (download) recently from Speak-IT Solutions, using Ebay (Speak-IT solutions = boyshifters on Ebay) and paid by PayPal. Everything went well. The foot pedal was delivered within 2 days after the purchase. Everything was as described on the Ebay page. I received the licence key for the software per email shortly (within an hour) after I bought it. I contacted the seller prior to my purchase to check the compatibility of my computer with the software. He responded immediately with helpful advice. Both products work fine. Based on my experience, I can recommend this shop/seller and both products as well.

Failure to correct shipping/desptach error/customer at loss of cost of order

We were sent an expensive (when the £11.94 charge to ship a letter size envelope to Ireland is included) set of Philips headset foam ear cushions in error instead of the ordered £4.99 Sennheiser items. We emailed the specified accounts@.. address to raise the problem - presuming that resolution would be straightforward. No answer.... Phoned 3 days later, to be off-handledly told that a reply could not be expected from that email address. (????) The agent asked for time to check the matter out, but would not agree to reply by email. (we weren't in a position to take a call that day) Repeated the request for an email response by email, adding that we also wanted order an additional higher spec set of ear cushions. Received an answer to the email x3 days later with a quote offering the replacement ear cushions FOC and pricing the higher spec set. There was no mention of additional shipping charges. Thinking that the company intended to put the higher spec cushions in the envelope with the FOC replacement set (which normal practice said they were already on the hook to ship) we phoned to pay for the higher spec cushions and set it all in motion. Only to be told (following the agents double checking with a superior) that FOC meant replacement (only) of the original cushions. That he had no choice but to take a second shipping charge to get the replacement set to us - despite the shipment being required as a result of their error. Which raised the prospect of our being clobbered on top of this with a third shipping charge for the higher spec cushions... Faced with this unaceptable situation (the company made the original shipping/despatch error but refused to stand over it, while proceeding as they demanded would have resulted in shipping charges o.t.o. £30 or x2 the value of the goods) we advised the agent that we would not pay shipping for the replacement cushions, and would not to proceed with ordering the higher spec cushions. This isn't acceptable... The result is that we are at the loss of the £17.93 cost of the original order....
