My Mentorship Experience with ill Factor – Beat Academy Elevate Program

I joined the Beat Academy Elevate program as an established music producer from Nairobi, Kenya. I had already worked with a few artists, but my goal was to become a top-level music producer, a business-minded creator, and an artist manager. I didn’t just want to make music — I wanted to build a career for myself and help my artists do the same. The 6-month journey with ill Factor completely changed my mindset. He opened my eyes to a whole new world in the music business. Through his guidance, I developed not only a deeper business sense but also the ability to elevate my artists and help make their dreams a reality. As I write this, I can truly say I’m making real progress. This mentorship gave me the kind of growth that would’ve taken me at least five years to achieve on my own. Ill Factor’s 20+ years of experience is worth every penny, and I highly recommend this program to anyone who’s serious about their dream. Thank you, Ivan (ill Factor). I hope to connect with you again in the future!

This is such a scam

This is such a scam. I noticed a £44 charge on my account yesterday for this site which I signed up to a year ago. I logged in to find that for that £44 I get access to absolutely NOTHING as it appears they've changed their subscription model in the last year. HOWEVER they are still happy to keep my card details on file and charge me. I'd also like to say that as a working composer/scorer in advertising this site was zero help in advancing my music outside of my work and into a more commercial areas, hence why after a few exploratory logins I never used it again after signing up. Its basically just a gateway to try and get dream chasers to spend even more money on further 'value adds' like 'mentorship' etc. STEER CLEAR. Operating this way would be illegal in the UK.

Part of the Mentorship Program

Being in the mentorship program, with Ivan Corraliza as our mentor, really elevated my artistry to a level that I would have not expected before. Being able to have consistent feedback to improve and helping me see where are the areas of opportunities that I struggled with, really helped me forge a better vision on where I want to be with my music. I fully recommend checking out the Mentorship Program if you want to get serious about finding purpose in your music.

My Mentorship Journey

I joined the mentorship program as a fledgling producer who kept getting stuck and would pain-stakingly dig in to get everything sounding just "perfect". 6 weeks getting my kick drum to sound right - sort of stuff. Then I joined the mentorship program. From the outset I decided that I would do what I was told - even if it felt uncomfortable - in order to make the most of the experience and learn what I could from someone who has been there done that. Thats where things got interesting... Ivan was able to dig into what kept tripping me up, why was I getting stuck, and more importantly how to keep moving forward and growing, learning, evolving and getting better with a sense of confidence. By the end of the mentorship I was completing whole tracks from beggining to end within 3 weeks. Tracks that I was genuinely happy with! The last track I completed before joining the program took me 18 months! Im now producing and writing my best work with more confidence, greater ease, a sense of flow and direction and all in reasonable time frames. Unimaginable to me prior to the mentorship. So if your music is important to you and youre in need of something to help you elevate your passion to another level, even if youre not sure it is that you need, this course is for you. I may even be back again myself.. Thanks Ivan. This was an incredible journey and opportunity.

Mentorship Experience

Three weeks ago, I completed Ivan's mentorship program, and it was an extraordinary journey. While Ivan offers fantastic free content, the mentorship experience is on an entirely different level. It was the best experience in my music career. Ivan as a Mentor Ivan is an exceptional mentor. His expertise extends beyond music; he also guides you in workflow and mentality. Ivan constantly pushes his mentees to step out of their comfort zones, ensuring continuous growth and improvement. Program Highlights Personal Growth: Ivan's mentorship goes beyond technical skills. He emphasizes the importance of mindset and work habits, which are crucial for long-term success. Challenge and Support: Throughout the program, Ivan challenges you to exceed your limits while providing the support needed to achieve new heights. Comprehensive Learning: In just six months, the amount of knowledge and practical skills you gain is equivalent to what you might learn in three years at a university. Final Thoughts I am confident that I will return to this mentorship in the future. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone serious about advancing their music career. This mentorship is more valuable than any university program I know of, and it delivers tremendous learning in a short time. I cannot emphasize enough how worthwhile this mentorship is – 100% recommended!

BA Elite Mentorship Program Testimonial

Hello, I go under my artist name Kightzeareau with my music. I have been fortunate enough to be accepted into the Beat Academy Elite Mentorship program in early 2024, under the watchful eye of Grammy award winning producer Ivan "Ill Factor" Corraliza. The road to the mentorship program was a long one, I took up the Beat Academy courses back in 2021, learning solo, the foundations that Ivan provided with his courses, I gain the courage to voice the music that I have always wanted to create. With a couple personal singles and personal 6 song EP album under my belt, I finally took the plunge and applied for the Elite Mentorship program. I believed as much as I learned on my own, solo, I needed a mentor to help elevate me to the next level, little did I know that Ivan not only wanted to elevate me but also transform my music to the next level. Ivan is the consummate professional. Every student he takes under his wing will be catered too, with the goals that they have, but Ivan will challenge those goals to make sure you are growing. With a rag tag of diverse musicians around the world also on the call sessions, I got a glimpse of what the world of producing is like, and I not only learned so much from my fellow classmates, but was also had the privilidged to have career professionals in vocal training and mixing and mastering come listen to our calls and give feedback. The program gives as much as you give to it. Ivan is here to help you find your voice and guide you through the woods, not to do the work for you. I am so very grateful to have been able to be mentored by someone, who is so passionate about his craft, that he wants others to be successful in their craft as well. I can't recommend enough for any inspiring artist, at any level, to be able to take this course on their journey into making the music they dreamed about. Ivan has the experience, background and connections to backup and deliver to you the growth you will want in your music. With what I have learned in 3 months, probably saved myself years of headaches and self-problem solving by following Ivan's guidence in the program. I have plans to take what I learn and go out in my journey and see where it takes me. I have no qualms in taking this program again. Making and producing music is a lifelong journey. And having someone like Ill Factor in your corner at any level, at any time, I believe, will set you up for success and wins in your musical journey. Thank you so much, Ivan. God bless you and your good works you have done with Beat Academy and the elite mentorship that you have provided. In my short time in the program, I have no doubt, that many good songs we hear in the media, will be from artists and producers with links to Beat Academy and Ill Factors Mentorship program. Cheers to all of you on your musical journey. I hope to meet you all on top of the mountain!

Amazing training by an amazing coach

I gained a lot of knowledge and had a lot of insights. the guidance we received every week was great. Ivan really cares about his students and freely shares the experiences he makes in the music industry. He is a fine producer with a great ear who can point out in a clear and concise way what the problems with a student's composition or mix are. We also had access to his massive library of training normally only available on the 'Ultimate Producer' course—free of charge. His openness and level of sharing are invaluable for someone who wants to make it in the industry. The course is perfect for someone who wants to acquire the knowledge to make it in the industry and be held accountable every week.

Mentorship Program Was My Key

I decided tot join The Mentorship program in Jan 2024 and it was just what i needed. I am really spending my bottom dollar on it too, and I'm still happy I am doing it. That said, I don't think it's for everyone... It still takes lots of work. I'd say this is like a top knotch gym and personal trainer to meet with weekly. The program gives all the tools and support serious producers need to train well, whether that's granular production tips or a helping hand over psychological hurdles. It may be expensive but that means the class size is small and help is direct. A personal trainer teaching a group of ten is likely to get to personally know each group member individually and offer specific advice in an much more effective way. I can't put too much emphasis on how much value is here for the right people. The energy, the support, and the knowledge have been so helpful to me and my music. This program is like a speciality shop with the owner in the store all the time, and a select group of like-minded, dedicated people you can work with, get help from, and feed off each others' passion. Monumental. (Orig: ill (and his team) are amazing. They're knowledgeable with really good systems for learning. Best of all, they're phenomenal people. They're easy to talk to, fun, and understanding. Any problems are easily talked about. I'd highly recommend.)

The Elevate program is a true gem

The Elevate program featuring Ill Factor is a true gem. In terms of music production, it has helped me more in the last three months than all other programs I took in the past combined. It's a no BS, straight to-the-point course led by a person who knows exactly what he's talking about. No vague statements or unrealistic promises - just pure undiluted information that is absolutely essential for anyone trying to improve and grow as a producer/songwriter. It is not cheap, but to me personally it was worth every penny. As an added bonus, I got to meet a bunch of extremely talented people and even collaborate with some of them. Aside from Elevate, Beat Academy offers tons of other resources I found super helpful and informative. 5 stars across the board. If I had to point out some areas for improvement, I would say this: when you submit your song for a review, you expect it to be heard in its entirety and not get scrubbed through. Unfortunately, this is a common issue I've experienced more than once on different platforms. It's understandable that when there are many people in the group, and the time is limited, it may be tempting to quickly scroll through the song and move on, but the entire point of it, IMHO, is to present a song as a whole. I guess, there should be some sort of divider between songwriting and beat-making. A song should tell a story, and it's usually a short one. I think it may be worth it to spend 3-4 minutes per song just to make sure the story gets a chance to be told. Other than that, as I said, I'm very happy with the program. Thanks to Ill Factor, special guests, and the entire crew, and best of luck to all the current and future students of Beat Academy!

I really enjoyed this Program

I really enjoyed this Program. Some of my huge take aways was to build relationships with people that like creating music like me and how important the Motif is to music. The things I would have like to have seen; that everyones music put into the DAW so we can solo the songs and hear the difference and make adjustments (like oh wow I like how this person kick or bass sounds etc; this would have been definitely helpful during mastering week) even though we got all of our songs reviewed, comparing the ‘sonics’ and others song choices a little closer would have been more efficient and effective. I believe one of the things that the music community ‘as a whole’ is missing is “yeah everyone can hear what plugin or vst that pro is using, but the sound selection and sonic comprehension is just as important” and that should have been the main driving point because how sounds are sitting and moving inside the speakers are what drives people to listen.

Quality degraded compared to before

Used to be great but now it's just a money making business. The subscription is 5 times more expensive than before, the platform itself (updated) is horrible compared to the forum it was based on before where you could really collaborate and communicate with artists in a simple and creative way. There's the content and video tutorials created by the founder IllFactor that are useful and all, but not really worth 500$ / year. Better save the money and invest in buying gear and tools to make music.

My experience with Beat Academy has…

My experience with Beat Academy has been great! Beat Academy is a very hands on community who’s members support you by providing feedback. There are plenty of opportunities to collab along with professional syncing opportunities with some big names in the industry. We also participate in monthly calls where we can have a song played and receive live feedback from our teacher Ill Factor, a Grammy winner producer. He’s very knowledgeable about music production and shares liberally on how to improve. There are plenty of courses to take at your own pace on varies subjects too! I won a contest and free membership which was awesome! All around it’s a wonderful community to be apart of as a artist. I’m new to music production and have learned a great deal. Real opportunities. If your thinking about it, it’s DEFINITELY worth it.

My thoughts on Beat Academy

Beat Academy has been a great addition to my music production education. From the library of resources, to the remakes, to the live listening feedback sessions, and even the community feedback. I've learned a ton from Ill Factor, and really like the way he teaches, and explains what he's demonstrating. I also really appreciate his desire to raise up other producers. It has been a safe place to grow and show my work, and ask questions. I also appreciate that Beat Academy has also addressed issues like creative ruts, self esteem and rejection. It's all been really valuable information. Beat Academy is a solid resource that I reach for again and again on my production journey.

The Instructional/How To and Breakdown videos are filled with endlessly useful tips and tricks on top of core skills which will last you a lifetime. There is a great community with lots of peer support and encouragement and there are regular opportunities posted to submit your work for consideration in national and international projects. I genuinely believe this may be the only resource you need to elevate your music to places higher than you've imagined. Get on board!

Great community for people interested in music production

I have been a Beat Academy member for over 3 years and I have enjoyed the experience so far. I have a full time job and my time for music is limited but having the resources always available I have been coming back to review the materials and improving my production skills at my own pace. The community is one of the big reasons why being a member is worth it. If you put in the work and the time you will find a great place to share and grow, among the BA team and the BA members you will find people with different skill levels and at different stages of their production journeys but all sharing the eagerness to improve and learn. I find is easy to connect and collaborate with others. Since I joined this community I passed from being a bedroom musician to play live and release music. I have had the pleasure of personally connecting with Ill and the team and I can confidently say they care about the users and go out of their way to bring the most value and help them in achieving their goals. If you are passionate about music and want to learn from industry professionals I would defenitely recommend to check out BA.

Why I have stuck with Beat Academy

I had looked at some other music websites before and they were good, but I didn't hang with them. I came across Beat academy through a web search, signed up and have stuck with it since. Ivan is a very competent producer and a great teacher to go with it. I love his monthly song critique meets on line. whether your song or others are critiqued, I always learn a lot stuff I can be aware of and take to my own music. Ivan is passionate about what he does, loves encouraging people and is never disrespectful to any one. He is also honest and holds you to industry standards. the community is great to hang out with and is another source to encourage and receive encouragement from peers. B.A also provides opportunities to take on projects, collaborations and some professional opportunities. I could go on, but I don't want to write a novel. I would point any one who is serious about music production to sign up to Beat Academy.
