Home Bargains

Quite a surprise
Quite a surprise . . outside, Home Bargains lacks a bit of 'style' and looks like a cheap discount store~ which, of course, it is. The strapline is Top Brands - Bottom Prices, and that seems to be true inside. The store presentation is neat, clean and well organised, and there is plenty of choice of dry foods, fresh vegetables, dairy, housewares, gardenwares, clothes and a lot more. The product ranges appears to be wider than Aldi, Lidl, B&M, Morrissons, Sainsburys and even Tesco, although that is a broad generalisation. Prices seem a bit lower than Aldi/Lidl on many ranges, but there are price differences due to the differences in brands available - there are few or no 'house brands' in the food sections. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable and the store manager (Loughborough) is experienced and enthusiastic about the store and the HB business model, unlike most local managers (if you can find them) at almost all other supermarkets. So far, I am quite impressed. Home Bargains seems 'fresher' and more diverse that B&M, Lidl and Aldi.
