Misleading advertising, no effort to compensate
I bought their IQ EV Charger because they advertise a "self-consumption" feature. Strange name, but basically means that it will only use excess solar energy you produce from your panels instead of pulling from the grid. All installed, I couldn't find the setting to enable this in the app. I called IQ EV tech support, they had no idea. Forwarded me to software support, they said that I had to have a battery (which I don't) to get this feature. Forwarded me to sales to initiate a return, and was told that no, i don't need a battery, i need another type of fuse that they sell for $50 (which is not mentioned in their advertisement of the feature). After over an hour on the phone (my time is worth more than $50/hour!), I asked if they would comp me the fuse given the misleading advertisement, and got a "no" from the store support people. Asked about returning the entire unit (that cost me around $900), and was told that I would be charged a restocking fee as it's over the 30 day free return limit. Disappointing to say the least.
