Company reportedly owes £3m debt

It's so hard to believe the positive reviews are genuine as the negative reviews are saying exactly the same issues time and time again. Lack of clear billing, debits not taken on time, meter read problems, online energy reading problems, problems being ignored by customer services. These negative issues are consistent. Positive reviews on the other hand seem to be fairly generic. It's really important for others to be aware Tomato Energy is reportedly owing £3m debts according to recent reports, they have also been banned from accepting new customers. Standing charges across the industry are high now in part of the refunding customers for historical credit when the first lot of suppliers went bust during the start of the energy crisis. Do we really want to be contributing to propping up suppliers with massive debts which again risks putting everyone's bills up? The regulator says on this matter: "On 2 April 2025, the Authority was informed by multiple market participants that they were considering commencing legal proceedings against Tomato Energy for the recovery of unpaid liabilities totalling over £3m. The licensee has not submitted any notifications to the Authority under SLC.4B.8-9 and as such, Tomato Energy appears to have contravened SLC 4B.8."
