Complete lack of empathy & understanding ..!
15 years after losing my father I eventually convinced my mother to book a solo trip. She chose Tenby as we spent many happy years there previous as a family. I helped her chose the holiday & Alfa travel seemed to be a reputable company to put mum at ease for her first solo experience. She booked the holiday for May 2025 & duly paid the deposit plus the peace of mind insurance policy. Sadly mum suffered a massive stroke on New Years Eve & passed away a couple of days later. As next of Kin & Executor of my mums affairs I contacted Alfa to cancel the holiday on my mums behalf expecting to have the money reimbursed but they refused saying that ‘ we are asked several times each day for charges to be waived for various upsetting circumstances of the same or similar nature to your own’ & that no refund is due. I could understand if it was short notice where the holiday perhaps couldn’t be resold but over 5 months to go in my eyes gives more than adequate time to re sell. It’s not the money but the complete lack of empathy & understanding of the situation that I find upsetting. Perhaps bear this in mind when considering using Alfa for your next vacation.
