Booked rental with routes through my…

Booked rental with routes through my AMEX account d/t there policy for rental car. I also have my own car insurance that covers rentals. Flight was late and had Amex customer service call the rental company to notify them. The Amex rep expressed how rude they were when she notified them. They told her if I was more than 2hrs late they would bill me $75. We had to reach out to the corporate office or some higher up to approve the late arrival time. We arrived at 1AM to pickup- waited in line for an hour. They try to sucker you into buying there insurance policy saying that mine won’t cover anything and tell you that you need there hyper inflated sunpass. So my rental price I booked was about $200 and when said and done they told me the rental price would be $800 plus I have to put down $500. So I walked out and cancelled and at 2AM took an Uber to hotel room. Now they are charging me $50 fee for “no show”. I have receipts with my gps location with my Uber info to say other wise. How about not run a shady business and be upfront and honest with your customers before they show up to a bloodbath of fees. I’d also like to mention that when we got there there were multiple people leaving without rentals due to the same reason. Update 10/15/24: Routes is denying me the refund of my money because they claim I only turned down the rental because of the refundable deposit. This is not true, that was just an additive factor in the unorthodox/unethical pushing of their insurance and sunpass option. Like I said what was supposed to be a $200 car rental. I eventually rented a car from enterprise for not much more and they accepted my auto insurance, which is a premium insurance that has covered me in the past and my AMEX card would cover bc I rented through them. Also enterprise didn’t charge me for the sunpass- the license plate is monitored and charged to you. With Routes, they charge you $12.50/day and I only used the expressway a couple times, so don’t make sense for me. Now if I didn’t get “their” sun pass and my toll got missed or accidentally passed up I would be charge the sun pass fine plus an additional $50 per offense. Anyone with future plans of car rentals please consider this review and stick with the big brand rental company.
