Right Cars Heraklion...
The whole online ORBIT CAR HIRE search and booking process was very easy and everything was as expected when we arrived at Right Cars in Heraklion airport. Right Cars are a little hard to find, but if you search for "right cars airport heraklion" on GoogleMaps, then the pin provided is in exactly right place and is only a 6 minute walk from the front of the arrivals terminal. Very polite, friendly and efficient staff and the signing up process went smoothly. FYI we used our own excess protection policy and though they did try to recommend theirs, it wasn't too hard a sell and we just stayed with what we had. Interestingly though, the Heraklion Right Cars approach to damage inspection is that you must video the car thoroughly yourself upon collection; they don't check around the vehicle with you at all, or mark existing damage on a sheet which is the process we have been used to at other car rentals. At drop off, they check the vehicle against their own damage report but double check against your video if they spot something they haven't got recorded on their sheet. This is in fact what happened; they noticed something that they hadn't got recorded from previous rentals, but my video clearly showed the damage was already there at collection and so we were not charged. For this approach to work it is absolutely vital that you make sure you thoroughly video the entire car so that all existing damage is clearly visible on the video. Make sure you do all the wheels and right down low around the bottom of the sides and bumpers too! It's a different approach than we're used to, but it worked for us and I quite liked it. I would use them again without hesitation.
