I usually hate renting a car
I usually hate renting a car, I find it a stressful experience. Being at the customer service desk of some obscure rental company in a foreign country, being at the mercy of someone who is trained to push extra insurance onto me or who charges me big money on return of the car for tiny scratches that have been there all along normally gives me the feeling of being out there in the wild west - on my own! But to my pleasant surprise things were different this time. This was my first time dealing with Zest and for a change, renting was a pleasant experience. I was told from the start what to expect, the amount that would be blocked as a deposit, the rental procedure incl. clear instructions on where to pick up the car and what to do if the flight was delayed. And - very important to me - I knew there was 24-hour phone support available in case something went wrong. It wasn't needed this time but knowing that someone would pick up the phone in case of trouble was very reassuring. So it was all plain sailing, the rental company Centauro in Rome Fiumicino handed me a very decent car and professionally handled everything. They even answered their phone (in English!), when my flight was indeed delayed and when I needed advise on driving restrictions in Rome. This rental experience went some way to convince me that there are decent and customer-focused operators around I will certainly deal with Zest again, thank you!
