Low prices without insurance
After discovering this website during my car rental search, I noticed that the prices quoted appeared to be quite favourable. However, upon collecting the vehicle, I was informed that it did not include Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) insurance from Europcar apparently due to being charged in dollars. This means that, if you are from North America, you can opt not to take any insurance and be liable for the full cost of the vehicle in the event of a write-off. Being from the UK, I did not want to take this potentially risky option and chose to pay for CDW insurance, which was inflated due to having to purchase the CDW insurance on the spot before being handed the keys. I have always purchased additional excess insurance and thought this would suffice when using carrentals.co.uk however, this only applies when the vehicle already has CDW insurance with an excess figure. Reviewing my contract mentioned that I might have to purchase CDW insurance or that it might already be included; this was not clear and hence I found it to be misleading. Lesson learnt, and I shall not be using this company in future.
