Staggering rudeness
Earlier in 2023, I spent a small fortune on a safari to Kenya. The agent was helpful and the trip was wonderful bar a few hiccups, including our accommodation at Karen Blixen camp being double booked (where the manager, who said the agent was told they were double booked, upon arrival attempted to put us in staff accommodation near a sewer) and an indirect flight from Mara to Meru leaving us all sick. It was however, extremely expensive but as it was my first safari, was prepared to pay what was asked. I was given a small refund for the inconvenience of the accommodation experience. Anyway, a few months later I contacted Audley again to arrange a birthday trip to Japan. It took several attempts before anyone called me back. A lady did call eventually. Her rudeness was staggering and she basically ‘told’ me that I would not get a booking to make the cherry blossom season and every question I had she replied with a negative. I told her I found her abrasive and hostile and that was that. I then held back on posting a review, later contacting the original agent with a potential trip to Tanzania. He sent a perfunctory email and did not have the courtesy to even call me. I’m sure he received a very healthy commission from the earlier Kenya trip, and he would then call back very promptly. Quite frankly, I am staggered at the rudeness and arrogance of this company. They are quite happy to take tens of thousands of pounds from customers, only to treat former customer with secondary importance. Maybe the staff should focus less on their double barrelled names and work on their manners. I will not be using them again and am disgusted by their attitude. There are many reputable agents out there. Don’t waste your time.
