This review comes in 2 parts. We were totally dissatisfied by the initial solicitor given to us for a property purchase who in our view sat on the case for a long time and only to call us a few weeks before the stamp duty change deadline to say she could not complete on time. She told us that in her “experience” it was not possible to complete on time (it takes 6-8 weeks). She told us at the time that she had only just found out about progressing with the case when in fact she had been informed before but just sat on the case for a whole week. Basically we felt lied to and she was covering up. We made a complaint to TR about this conduct and the slow progression (with stamp duty change due) only to have one of the managers of the firm write to us in a manner to us to be arguing with his client but using some inaccurate information. it felt like “insult to injury”. We asked for a CEO response and got none. We escalated this to a formal complaint and the response again felt like TR defending their own staff. We were sick and tired of this at this point from top down (paying a fee higher than some other quotes we got) we just gave up arguing. This caused us a lot of distress and frustration, and we would avoid it again at all cost. We only went with TR due to being recommended by our estate agent who said the buyers were also using them that things would move faster with the sale. But ironically the fact could not be more opposite as we saw it. Second part is one of commendation for Louise James and her colleagues in TR who were passed on our case after our complaint and after the first solicitor said she could not complete before the stamp duty change. Louise called us to discuss almost straight away and the team worked tirelessly on our case to complete on time! And before the stamp duty change deadline. Even though the first solicitor did not think this was possible in her “experience” (which really speaks volumes). Clearly Louise and her team are A star lawyers and paralegals. We would say that anyone who will have Louise and her team for legal matters are lucky clients. The whole experience has unfortunately completely tainted our perception of TR as a whole but Louise and her team are second to none. From our view there is element of luck of the draw in our case with TR who we get and level of experience we get.
