worst property management… EVER
This is the worst property management company I have ever had to deal with and I’ve been a renter for over 15 years. Any time I have a maintenance request I usually I have to ask several times before I get any response from Darwin Homes. When someone finally does reply, the reply is usually if it’s my fault I will have to pay for it. Which does not make me feel very secure or taken care of. Instead it makes me feel weary or like I’ve done something wrong. The home I live in was built in the 1960s. It’s old and naturally problems will occur. This winter my heater wasn’t working and it took several requests before I received a response. When Darwin homes finally responded they said try changing the filter and if it’s my fault I’ll be charged. That scared me so I decided to not have it looked it. 2 weeks later my heater is still not working and I decided I can’t live like this anymore. I call again to have it looked it and say I’ll take the risk. Turns out it wasn’t my fault and something wasn’t wrong with the heater. I feel like Darwin homes bullied me into not taking a service call the first time and therefore I had to live without heat for 3 weeks this winter. This blows my mind considering I pay rent for a service and apart of that service is to have my house maintained. It also makes me wonder if the land owner knows this is how you go about treating their homes and renters. 100% the worst service I’ve ever received from a property management company. On top of that, my old roommate, who is no longer on the lease, called Darwin homes to discuss her deposit return and y’all actually discussed money with her! She still receives emails and updates about the house even though I’ve asked the account services team repeatedly to stop sending her communication. My name is the only person on the lease and therefore I should be the only person y’all should be communicating with especially about money and deposits. I feel like every time I try to call I can never get a hold of someone and when I finally do talk to someone it’s always someone different. When y’all switched systems without announcing it until a week before rent was due and my payments were set up automatically. I was on vacation and assumed my rent was getting paid. I came back to find out I now missed rent and had a late payment. It took me 4 phone calls talking to several different people to finally get the charge removed since this was a system issue. If I had any suggestions to this company, it would be to have a better account services team. I find they are usually unresponsive and rude. I also feel like I have no idea who is actually taking care of the house. After reading the reviews, it seems they treat their home owners very well and their tenants terrible. Home owners, please keep this in mind. I am usually discouraged by this company to call in maintenance calls which means your house is not getting fixed. I get little to no service when it comes to this company. I also found the address of the home owner of the property I live at and will be writing them directly to let them know the services I have received. I encourage all tenants to do the same.
