Avoid post offices in shops, Calver and Park Head
I have recently had two very bad experiences in Post Offices attached to shops. One attached to the Spar shop in Calver, Derbyshire (Whites). The person on the Post Office counter told me that any cards I posted to Germany and Malta would not arrive for Christmas - the date was the 2nd December !! I have posted cards to these countries for decades, I have never been told to not bother posting them before! I kept the ones for Malta back, but sent the one to Germany. I have a feeling she put a second class stamp on this card, but I cant prove that. She also told me my USA card wouldnt arrive for Christmas either, also appeared to put a second class stamp on. I have since checked this information and found it to be incorrect, I could have posted the cards, they will get there. I cant believe I trusted this person and now have not sent cards to my family and suspect my other cards will not arrive because she put too low postage on them. Why should I be checking her work? Why does this shop bother to have a post office? They just dont care!! The other Post Office was at Park Head, Sheffield. I sent a small package to Malta, in September. It cost me £15, I didnt question what he did with it, I should have, because he didnt attach a customs document. As a result the package is stuck at the customs office in Malta, they wont release it until a customs document is taken there. Royal Mail wont refund me because according to them it is delivered, they also say what the Post Office did is no concern of theirs. Another example of incompetence at post office counters in shops where the duty to supply a good service is just not there. I am furious and can do nothing.
