Pointless and a rip off should you need to claim. Save you money.
Our flight back to the UK from the south of France was cancelled due to ATC strike action. The next available flight offered by the airline was in 2 days and since we had to be at work the following day, we made our way back by train and kept the receipts. Flight refunded but we were still £300 out of pocket so we claimed on this policy. The claims process is operated by a 3rd party located outside the UK which made the most weird requests for personal information totally unrelated and irrelevant to the claim which include the full 16 digit numbers of credit cards we own. They also wanted scanned copies of our passports and other sensitive info sent digitally to them. I raised a complaint they've admitted the info shouldn't have been requested as it clearly raised security concerns with data protection. They already had already all the necessary paperwork and receipts but decided they now also wanted a screenshot from the airline's next available flight which was two days after so they could, if the claim was successful then pay around £30 per delayed day. So basically you'd save money if you didn't have this policy.
