2 weeks since collection and still no bike delivery

Tuesday 4th September our bike was picked up to be delivered the next day to my son in West Sussex. All good. Now it was not delivered the next day in fact by the Friday of the same week it had still not been delivered, even though the SCAN on the tracking showed it had been. I eventually after a lot of hassle found a phone number for Paisley Frieght who host the Bike Delivery website. They were helpful in that they spoke to ANC the courier company who are clearly useless, however Bike Delivery (Paisley Freight) went to great length to explain to me that there was no service guarantee that any delivery would be next day, so being late was not their fault or really a problem, they said the local depot had had some problems and the scan for delivery was a mistake....they promised delivery would be made on the following day. No delivery. The website then showed that our bike was being returned to our home address - not helpful. I spoke again with Paisley Freight who said they would stop this and get the bike delivered by Friday (nearly 2 weeks on from collection). Now in the meantime to Paisely Frieght's credit they have refunded our courier fee. BUT as we stand today, my sons bike still has not been delivered, we are 2 weeks on from collection and a £400 bike is lost somewhere in the courier network. What an unmitigated disaster. I will never use this service ever again.
