Avoid Queenstown Airport Go Rental
Avoid Queenstown Airport Go Rental. We booked & paid for our rental car and completed the required online check-in paperwork well in advance of the pickup date. Due to the after hours pickup that was arranged, we received an email from Go Rental Queenstown to advise our keys were in Box 10 and pincode provided. This email advised the car would have emergency contact numbers visible on the windscreen should need be. We arrived at the stated pickup time of 9:30pm to collect the vehicle and found no keys in any of boxes 1 through to 11. We opened all of the boxes. We spent the next 2hrs in the freezing cold, with two young children and after 12hrs of international travel, trying to contact the Head office of Go Rental (via a Google search) to ask what we should do. There were no emergency phone numbers on the windscreen of our car, as advised by the email. Our rental car was there at the front of the office fully locked but with no keys available. By pure chance, we bumped into employee Cherry who was walking to her car, outside of work hours. Cherry could not locate the missing car keys either and helped us out with another rental car from another company for the night. We appreciate the extra effort that she went to here. Upon returning to Go Rental Queenstown office the next morning, we were told the key was in Box 11 all the time. This was not the case as we opened every single box from 1 to 11 and seemed an obvious attempt by someone to try to divert accountability. It seems that Go Rental Queenstown are happy to charge premium prices, happy to request advance online form completion from the customer and yet completely fail to deliver on the most basic of expectations that a car rental key be provided in the after hours box as mentioned in their email. Very disappointed that our trip & first impressions of New Zealand was tarnished by this unprofessionalism. Lots to improve on Go Rental.
