Red tape banking
I began banking with Wachovia, which later was bought out by Wells-Fargo, in 1967. I have a Wells-Fargo mortgage and two Wells-Fargo checking accounts. At the beginning of the year 2020, without any warning, W-F began charging me a $30/month service fee for the smaller checking account--one that I tried to cancel several years ago and was told not to bother with going to the trouble. I have tried for two days to close the smaller account and get my money back. I have put on hold several times and then transferred to someone else. To date, all they have offered me is $15 back on the first two service fees. No one so far has actually been able to help me with closing the account. I am on hold right now waiting to get someone to help me close it. I have been offered the option of going into a branch office and closing the account, but I cannot do that because I am 80 years old and barred for health reasons from doing that. This is no way to treat ANY customer, let alone one who has been a customer fo over 50 years.
