This was the trip of a lifetime! My mum and I decided to go to Greece together-- we are both Classicists and wanted to see some of the best ancient sites. We've never travelled just the two of us and it was partially a celebration of my 30th, so we were wanted to go all out! We went with Audley because of the hassle-free itinerary and amazing reviews. It was truly excellent. Because we were doing a sort of ancient tour, the potential pit-falls of our trip would be travel within Greece. I really didn't fancy driving us around and having the stress of car rental etc. Audley completely resolved that issue with amazing drivers who were amazingly punctual. We had private tours for every site; every guide was so knowledgeable and helpful. We learned so much! Our guides were enthusiastic and patient when we needed to take rests. I wondered if having a guide might be awkward, as I've never done tours like that before, but it was anything but. Everyone was fab. The hotels were outstanding, particularly Ippoliti in Nafplio. They genuinely attended our every need, most of the time without us even needing to ask. Huge shout out to Lyta, our wonderful Audley correspondent, who made everything so straight forward. It made the most amazing trip ever and much of it was thanks to her. Overall, I got the impression that everyone was just super keen to help us make the most of the trip and make sure we were happy/comfortable. It felt like proper luxury!
