The overall experience was very good
The overall experience was very good. We were collected from home on time. No issues. Our guide Martin was at Kenya airport waiting for us. It took a long time to go through immigration. Lots of tourists, two desks to deal with us. We had to wait for a person which turn out to be a mistake and Titan forgot to tell Martin who understanding we were very tired asked a colleague to wait for the remaining passenger, who never came. The hotel we were staying for one night was very nice and comfortable, but we only slept a few hours, we had to get up very early to go to the Ark lodge, which was in a nice location , in front of a lake, we saw many animals , elephants, hyenas, birds, etc. The rooms were very basic and small crying for maintenance, I didn’t miss the television or the hairdryer or even a wardrobe, but I could do without the mold in the bathroom. In Lake Nakuru Lodge was beautiful from outside, but the bedrooms needed maintenance. The good thing was it was only one night. Lake naivasha country club was good, hippos and zebras are permanent residents of the hotel, but the jewel in the crown was sarova Mara camp, pure luxury. In all the accommodations the level of service and attention and meals exceeded our expectations, the food was fresh and varied. The staff was very attentive and friendly. By the way, the mosquitoes ignored us. Not a bite. Martin looked after us with professionalism and kindness, and Clyde , our driver was warm and with a lot of experience, we all felt very safe. Kenya, I would have loved to really meet its people, but it looks, at least the roads we drove by, very insalubrious. The places we visited, tours etc, the organisation was good, although the last day we were taken to see the giraffes and to a restaurant called Carnivore, lovely place we ate all kinds of meat, and then to a hotel where more food and drinks were expecting us, we were told we could have a shower ( the shower was next to the swimming pool) and rest (in the garden) before our flight. Frankly we waited a lot , our flight was at 11 pm, we could have visited Karen Blixen museum instead. It’s just a suggestion. But overall it was a good experience. Kenya’s landscape, the few native people we met, and skies will remain forever in my heart.
