Return refused, hidden terms & conditions
Bought a £200 Mystery Box and had really high hopes. The contents were well below the value paid and the boxes are NOT RETURNABLE. The photos on the listing are not an accurate representation of any box contents at all - I am aware it’s a mystery box so obviously the photos aren’t of what you’ll receive, but they provided a vastly inflated impression of expected box contents. Mine contained items, mostly accessories and toys (tat) with a current market value of around £160. I paid £200, plus shipping. The listing description and photos are misleading. It doesn’t state on the listing that these are NOT RETURNABLE, regardless of whether you’ve opened them or not, nor is this information provided in the Returns & Refunds policy. Customer service were polite but unhelpful and quoted that it states in their Ts&Cs that they’re not returnable, but it doesn’t say so anywhere on their listing, nor are the Ts&Cs provided during the buying process when using Shop Pay to pay. The information on them not being returnable is also not stated in their Returns & Refunds policy, it’s hidden low down in the Terms & Conditions, which feels deliberately misleading and dishonest. I’ve contacted Trading Standards for advice on whether these policies abide by UK consumer law with regards to the Distance Selling Regulations and hidden terms.
