Rubbery Refried Beans?
We shop at Food Lion regularly. One item we buy, Food Lion "Traditional" refried beans has always been an excellent deal. Today we purchased a can and used it as part of dinner. I heat them with 2 tablespoons of butter and if they need thinning add a small amount of milk. These refried beans got rubbery and thick as they heated. Add a little more milk, they get a little thinner but thicken back up as they heat and get rubbery. They taste like flour or corn flour has been added and that is exactly how these starches would react if added. Food Lion, are you cheating and adding flour to stretch the refried beans. Someone should investigate
