Do not book with this company, it will ruin your holiday!

In short, just don’t book with this company, it will ruin your holiday. Vans are old, none of the equipment works and the customer service is shocking. We hired a Jucy crib for 3.5 weeks. We had to book last minute so knew we wouldn’t get our first choice company but did not realise Jucy would be so terrible! We collected our van from Christchurch. We were shown around everything very quickly and the staff seemed disinterested and weren’t that helpful. You have to pay extra for chairs and tables, the table we were given had a big crack down the middle so completely unusable. Luckily we checked and they gave us another which was marginally better. We got on our way and got to our first campsite where we realised the water tank was leaking, the fridge didn’t get cold and the gas cooker didn’t light. So we couldn’t cook any dinner on our first night. When we rang Jucy we were told the out of hours team weren’t able to do anything and to wait for someone to call back. We waited and waited, no one called. We spent the majority of our second day on the phone being passed between different people saying it wasn’t their problem. We eventually came up with the idea of taking the van to Queenstown when we were passing through and swapping it for another. In the meantime we had to buy water and a new gas burner and had no working fridge. When we arrived in Queenstown the van was not ready for us (despite having had 48hours warning) so we had to wait for another morning whilst they got a van ready. When the brought it round the fridge in the new van also didn’t work and there was not enough cooking utensils to make a meal for 2 people (who is checking these vans before they give them to people??). Once we had had to hang around even longer whilst they sorted this we could then get on our way. We later realised one of the doors wouldn’t open so had to go back again to get them to fix it. We missed all our activities we had booked that day and wasted the money we spent on them. The following day we drove from Queenstown to Wanaka. As we started going down the hill, the whole van started shaking whenever we applied the breaks. We pulled over and called Jucy. Again, we were given minimal reassurance and wasted another day waiting for the roadside recovery to come and check the van. The brakes were dangerous but we were told it was just an old van and no to worry. I would question the safety levels of these vehicles! Once we arrived in Auckland at the end of our trip we had been assured that we would get a refund for the days wasted at the beginning. On arrival the Auckland team said there were no notes on our file and therefore we couldn’t get a refund. So again we wasted another afternoon trying to sort this and only ended up receiving a couple of hundred dollar compensation for over 6 days wasted holiday. What a terrible company, I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone.
