Had to clean the whole house

We were very excited to get away to the beach for a week, given the current COVID-19 situation! We rented the house to accommodate my family of 5 (including 3 kids, 6 year old, 4 yrs old and 8 months old), and my two parents. There was plenty of room for all of us! We loved the pool in the back that the kids could play in and the big kitchen to fit all the chefs. The reason I gave it a low score was due to the cleanliness. I was VERY disappointed. Not taking into consideration the fact that right now I feel like every rental should go above and beyond and make sure their customers are extremely satisfied and comfortable with the fact that the place has been disinfected properly. All the linen and towels were in bags, which was nice. The beds just had a paper tag over them, not 100% sure if that meant they were cleaned properly. One of the beds my daughter slept in, the dust ruffle had stains on it which led me to believe that the linens weren’t washed properly. I had to strip her bed and remake it, which was the last thing I wanted to do after driving for 16 hrs. When I went to use the washer and dryer, the dryer was full of hair ...not sure human or pet...but either is gross. The coffee table in the living room had some coffee spilled all over it and it ran down the legs of the table and that was not cleaned properly. The dining table was sticky, we ended up buying a tablecloth so we could eat on it. Going up the stairs there was a TON of spills on the walls, have NO idea how that happens. There was NOT ONE clean kitchen cabinet in the kitchen, and when we wiped down the counters, the paper towel we used was black. Good thing we brought our own disinfectant wipes and we wiped down the whole house and basically did an entire cleaning on our own. The property manager did return our cleaning fee, but it wasn’t about that, it was about the fact that we had to clean an entire house after traveling and it did NOT make me happy. Also, when we were outside swimming we noticed there were a lot of wasps flying around, we found two wasps nests and we have an allergy in the family. So we had to keep an eye on that. The outdoor shower did not work very well. One of the knobs didn’t turn, we called maintenance and they said basically just to use a screwdriver for the time being to turn it on and off. That was disappointing. Last, if you are renting this house and you have small kids, take into consideration that there is only TWO bathrooms in this house and ONE bathtub. So we had to bathe all of the kids in the master bathroom, which the tub and shower are both outdated and need some serious maintenance. We ended up spending 90% of the time on the beach, so after cleaning the whole house from top to bottom we ended up having a good stay. Definitely would NOT rent this house again.
