Fast and excellent care during a medical emergency
I developed terrible stomach pains while staying in Jakarta, Indonesia. A doctor recommended I visit the hospital because she was concerned about an inflamed appendix. We called Travel Protect on the way to the hospital to let them know what was happening and within 5 minutes we were talking to one of their medical team. Whole process was very simple, they had a contract with the hospital and within 30 minutes of arriving they had sent through a guarantee of payment. As a result, I received very fast and excellent care. My appendix ended up having to be removed and I spent the next 4 days in hospital. During this time the insurer emailed several times to check how I was doing and they were quick to follow up when my costs reached the initial guaranteed threshold (sent through an updated guarantee of payment within the hour). I left the hospital having paid nothing but the excess, despite the final bill being close to $10k. They also followed up the next week to see if I needed to add anything else to the claim (cancellation of trip, any lost accommodation costs, etc) before it was finalised. I’m planning to use these guys again for our next trip.
