Literally shocking.

But of a long one I do apologise but where do I start? Arrived Wednesday for our 12pm appointment to sit for half an hour waiting for our sales man. Looked at the car I was interested in and found a list of issues such as - break discs were absolutely shot to pieces and needed replacing - smashed left hand wing mirror - significant paintwork damage drivers side door - a multitude of scratches and chips in paintwork - no mats in the footwell of the car - scuffed alloys However upon informing our sales man of these issues he hurried off to see if he can fix them. He then returned and said we can fix it all if you’re happy to wait a few days for the car. I said fine that’s great. Before I knew it the car was whisked off for its MOT & repairs. Here is where the issues then really began. They took my car (2019 plate seat with 39000 miles on the clock) to be inspected by a mechanic to be valued. They came back and said the following - scuffed alloy (I was aware of) - broken window button (I was aware of) - chipped windscreen which they stated they’d have to replace the whole screen. I have since looked at the chip and it’s not much bigger than a pinhead. - there is a funny noise coming from the engine when we remove the dipstick so there could be an issue with the engine so because of this we will take £500 off the value. Now my car has been fully serviced in January and had an MOT 2 weeks ago and I took my dad with me who is a mechanic & while he could hear a slight change in the noise it was making, he still disagreed with this potential engine issue so we left, and I made an appointment to take it to the garage who MOT and service it for me to ask for their opinion. When we arrived home, my dad just so happened to top up my windscreen wash for me and noticed something unusual. The air breather hose was not attached where it should be and was actually tucked underneath the engine so it was hardly visible. Weird, since if it has just become disconnected by itself it would have been flapping around not tucked under something. He then reconnected the hose and the slight noise we had heard disappeared. Again, strange because once connected it took some force to then pull it back off, so I struggle to understand how this has spontaneously come free and tucked itself under the engine. I then received a call back informing me he had spoken to his manager and because I like the car so much they’ll offer an additional £300 for mine. I then explained we had fixed this ‘issue’ and he said oh brilliant if the noise is gone we will offer another £200 which put us back up to the offer we were originally happy with. He then informs me he will call me back to let me know when I am able to bring the car back on Saturday. He never called back, and I called twice the following day to try and get an appointment. He eventually called me back and made the appointment and said let’s get your finance application sorted over the phone. I said no because if I bring it back Saturday and there are still issues then I’ve applied for finance I don’t need so I’ll wait until then. So I take the car back Saturday. Arrive 10 mins late and phone them to advise of this and sales man is not even there he’s somewhere else. Turns up and says let’s get your car revalued and go from there. Another 20 mins go by and he comes in and says I’ve got bad news for you. There’s another noise coming from the engine that wasn’t there the other day. I have hardly driven this car since weds as I am off on maternity leave!! We asked for the noise to be shown to us and my dad asked for the mechanic who is saying there is a problem to come out and explain it to him. Funnily enough the mechanic wasn’t free to come and have that conversation with my dad so the sales man came out and stood there looking at the car saying when you rev it there’s a slight noise coming from it. My dad has been a mechanic for F1 for 40 + years. His job is to build engines he has built his motorbike engines, car engines from scratch he is not an idiot and it’s actually insulting that this man stood there telling us there is a noise that does not exist. Safe to say I told him politely I’m done and thanks for wasting our time not once but twice, and I will certainly not be going to this dealership again. What’s even more insulting is the message I received afterwards telling me why don’t I sell my car privately and I might get more for it and then I’m very welcome back to purchase one from them. Good job I didn’t apply for the finance over the phone like he wanted me too as that would have been a waste of time too. Worst experience I’ve ever had trying to purchase a car & I won’t be recommending you to anyone. Ever.
