Worst referencing experience I have ever had
I was due to move to a property let by Wrights and they used Rightmove for referencing.
Employer needed further information (an employee number) before they could provide the reference and requested this from Rightmove.
Rightmove just sat on this and did not ask us for this information which delayed matters. Only found out after chasing them. Would they have said anything at all had we not chased? Even when Rightmove finally got the reference, not one bit of compassion shown or willingness to expediate even though they were aware we had to be out of the property. Emails were sent asking them to speed up (to which they did not even bother to reply to) and calls made which fell on deaf ears. All in all, took just over 3 weeks before they confirmed all checks passed.
What I found most annoying about them is they simply do not seem to care if you could loose your move date, that you have to be out of your current property and you would have incurred moving costs.
To then add insult to injury after a stressful time, they had the cheek to send me emails and texts about how they could assist with moving broadband and energy suppliers. They do this by including this in the referencing passed confirmation email link and they kept resending this and also sent me text messages. This is despite me completing the initial form to say I DID NOT want to use their services. This to me is direct marketing and if I had not been so drained after my move as a result of Wrights (who were also stressful to deal with) and Rightmove, I would have made a complaint to ICO about them sending me marketing without my consent.
If you are going through referencing and have a move out date, just make sure to chase them up if you haven't heard from them within a few days to a week, and keep chasing no matter how much they try to fob you off on the phone.
