Disappointing Service That Doesn’t Meet Members’ Needs

I am extremely disappointed with the RAC service. When my car wouldn’t start, I had to wait eight hours for a patrol to come out. Although they managed to get it started, I was advised to take it straight to a garage. Like many people, I couldn’t get a garage appointment the same day, so I followed the advice as best I could and waited for the earliest slot. Now the car won’t start again, and despite the fact the fault hasn’t been fixed, RAC are telling me I have to pay an additional charge for recovery to the garage simply because I couldn’t take it in immediately. It is unreasonable to expect members to secure same-day garage appointments, and it feels like you’re penalised for something outside your control while paying for a service that is meant to help you when your car breaks down. RAC’s service simply doesn’t meet the needs of people who rely on their cars daily. I expected support to get my car to a garage to be fixed properly, not to face extra charges after already waiting eight hours for assistance that didn’t resolve the underlying problem. I expected better from RAC and will be cancelling my membership.
