Great, but paying full excess upfront is bad
Prompt service at the front desk & great C3 nice and clean. Returned intact and full and given the all clear. Nothing not to like here….except, on check in they took the full €700 excess cover off my credit card, and not the normal pre-authorisation that I’ve had 100s of times. On return they said it could take 15 days to return it! This feels like a scam, to make interest off other people's money. I’m trying to find out if this activity is illegal under EU law? Because I used a UK credit card, I had to pay exchange fees for the excess that was never needed…and exchange fees when they return it, costing me more money, for excess that was never needed.
