You won't find gas here
I recently got the keys to my house. The former owner took his name off the gas too early and it was disconnected. I thought getting my gas reconnected would be a simple matter. When I first called, the agent told me that once I signed Gas Networks Ireland would be automatically informed and would reconnect my gas. I then left the call and signed up online. The next day I received no email to say I had signed up so I rang their customer service again. The man on the phone confirmed I was signed up so I asked him again if I was due to be reconnected. "Did you fill out a reconnection form with the last agent?" he asked. No I had not. We then confirmed a time for my gas to be reconnected with Gas Networks Ireland. 5 working days away. A long wait but he assured me there was no way to avoid it. I thought the matter was resolved. The day of the reconnection arrived. No one appeared. I rang Gas Networks Ireland to be informed no appointment was made. I immediately called Bord Gais, escalated to a manager and was put on a cancellation list with Gas Networks Ireland. I am still awaiting my reconnection a week from my first call, during this time I've had no hot water for showers or heating. I was not offered any compensation or explanation for my situation besides an apology. I hope to find my gas reconnected soon but I am not holding out hope.
