Updated 17/03/25 Utter incompetence, avoid this company
These are the solicitors that my sellers are using right now. They haven’t replied to my solicitor’s enquiries for 3 weeks despite constant chasing from my solicitor, the sellers themselves and the sellers’ estate agent. Forms were sent to my solicitor with missing pages, and most documents received have had the wrong sale price on. Took 2 weeks to get the correct documents, but still with the wrong sale price. What kind of a tin pot company is this? The PLS conveyancer has made no effort to communicate with my solicitor, the last communique being a one liner a couple of weeks ago effectively saying ‘I’m not sure why you’re chasing with such urgency, we haven’t even have the draft contract yet’. The estate agent immediately confirmed that the contract HAD been sent to him days before. Then the conveyancer went in holiday and it seems that was the end of that, no one took over, utter standstill. Today I’m told they’d had an IT glitch and paperwork from the sellers hadn’t come through. It’s taken 3 weeks to identify that as the delay? The sellers are beside themselves with frustration. Is it lies and cover ups for no work being undertaken, or have they taken on too much work and are now working at a glacial pace through project overload. It’s going to cost me £2.5k now we’ll miss the stamp duty deadline, and the seller the same. Do not touch this solicitors with a barge poll. And the kicker, the sellers’ Estate agent Miles & Barr (who have also been utterly useless and caused unnecessary barriers) recommended them to the seller, so they get a referral fee for recommending this incompetent company. Avoid like the plague. They should be ashamed of themselves. Update 17th March 2025. PLS tried to claim defamation with my review! Thank you TrustPilot for rejecting that. As of today, these solicitors are still flatly refusing to contact the land registry to get a title plan error amended on the property I’m buying (3rd time of asking, he says he won’t even bother to acknowledge the request if we ask it again, absolutely staggering). We have also asked several times for confirmation on letterhead that the solar panels on the house are included in the sale. He has refused to provide this saying he doesn’t believe we need it to transfer the feed in tariff to me. On the 2nd or 3rd request the PLS conveyancer sent us a transfer of ownership form from British Gas which I as the new owner would need to complete to take over the tariff. That form clearly states you need to provide proof of ownership!!! I called British Gas and they confirmed we need a letter from the seller’s solicitors confirming that this is included in the sale and mentioning that I will become the owner of the property with these solar panels. It’s got to be on their solicitor’s letterhead, exactly as my solicitor has repeatedly told PLS, and asked for. I stand by my review completely. The fact that on 14tg Feb the Estste agent sales progressor asked me/my solicitor to copy them on outstanding enquiries in case they could take them up and get answers directly from the sellers to try and speed things up, speaks volumes about their own view of the competence of this solicitors.
