Take a torch and check your windscreen.

Take a torch and check your windscreen. I took a car from Auckland airport. It was collected from a dim underground area when it had been raining- so waterdrops on screen. I checked the bodywork etc and took pic and was assured that what was in there was small damages and not relevant. When we left the car park it was raining. When the raining stopped an hour in we noticed a mark on the screen. Took a picture as we had with the other damage. On return they decided we had chipped the windscreen charged me $5000 on my card and now are telling me it won’t be resolved for 6-9 weeks. At that point they will refund me the balence. I can fix a windscreen at home in 24 hrs for less than $250. I have insurance bought through the booking agent not through ezi rental they wanted to charge me 380 for that. Which was more than a third of cost of rental. This means I will need to wait that long to claim back my excess and get the refund from the balance. So take a torch and check your car if renting with them and make sure you double check if it’s raining. Currently they are ignoring the photo proof I took - Presumably because it was an hour into the journey.
