Compensation not paid

I was forced to use this solicitor by Churchill insurance, but my experience was an absolute nightmare. My case was initially allocated to someone who gave me incorrect legal advice. It was then passed to another person who produced completely different advice. After months of complaints, they admitted they provided inconsistent legal advice and offered me a compensation. It was the 17/01/24 and the compensation was never paid. After weeks of chasing, I was feed up and threatened them to recover the compensation via Small Claims Court. At that point, someone eventually phoned me and we agreed that if I didn't receive the cheque by the following day, they will block it and issue a BACS on that day or on Monday. I wrote to them on the 02/02/24 informing the cheque did not arrive; however, the cheque arrived soon after and, when I phoned back, someone told me they will check what happened and call me back. They called me back after 1 hour and stated I could go ahead and cash the cheque; however, on the 05/02/24, they emailed me stating the cheque was stopped and they will issue a BACS at some point. I am really annoyed as I have already handed the cheque to my bank and I will have to explain why I was trying to cash a blocked cheque, and the compensation has not been paid. On top of that, they are also unable to tell me when this will be paid. I have an open case with the SRA and Legal Ombudsman and I have obviously informed them that DLG failed to pay the compensation. I am now left with no other options than recovering my money via Small Claims Court. It feels like a never ending nightmare with a negligent solicitor that should not be allowed to operate.
