Labeling and Discrimination

At 18:48, 26 Apr 24 the cashier in register #1, Store #0420 located at 3808 Guess Rd Durham NC discriminated me and treated me like a thief. I had three items on my hands and ask for a lighter, she asked me to put the item at the registered, scanned the items, put in the plastic bag away from me and then left to get the lighter. After I paid, I stated I had to go back because I forgot to buy something and she said I must leave my shopping bag with her (after I have paid for it). It immediately triggered me and I said “Ma’am, if my intent was to steal something, I would put it in my bag (a tactical bag I had with me) and she said “I know you will” I asked for a manager, but no one responded (even knowing there was who appeared to be a supervisor witnessing everything). I told her she cannot be treating customers like that and calling them thieves, to which she replied I was the one calling myself a thief. 1. As a Latino, this is a clear sign of discrimination and targeting. 2. Food Lions does not have a policy which prohibits customers with entering the premises with bags; otherwise, people could not come in with purses, backpacks, tactical bags, etc 3. The premise does not have locker equipment to support (if any at the time) a no bag policy. 4. Employee action was a clear indication of targeting and labeling with no facts or evidence to support such action As a Latino who served our nation for 20 years in the Army, I feel discriminated, humiliated and labeled as a thief
