A Broken System that Reflects Poorly on India’s Global Reputation I have now visited BLS Canada six separate times for what should be a simple, straightforward consular process. Each time, the rules change. The staff shares inconsistent information. The documentation on the official website doesn’t match what they ask for in person. And there's zero accountability. This time, I was told I need to use a new email address because I changed my jurisdiction — something not mentioned anywhere on the website or in the detailed instruction manuals I carefully followed. Last time, I was turned away for allegedly selecting the wrong jurisdiction, even though there was no warning or system block when I submitted the application. Frankly, it feels like I’m dealing with a typical inefficient Indian government office, just relocated to Canada. BLS does not operate with transparency, professionalism, or a citizen-first mindset. Every visit involves wasted time, unclear rejections, and no accountability. No other country I’ve dealt with makes its diaspora go through this level of stress and confusion for basic services. The fact that the Indian government continues to contract BLS despite thousands of similar complaints is beyond disappointing. It reflects poorly on the Government of India’s willingness to protect the dignity and time of its citizens abroad. We deserve better — not just as customers, but as Indian citizens trying to remain connected with our roots. BLS Canada has failed us time and again.
