Expensive upgrade with MyCruises
We recently went on a cruise (May 2023) which was booked through MyCruises/Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) that went from New York to Southampton via Iceland, Norway, Amsterdam and Rotterdam. Flights to Australia and return from London were included in the package. Because of bad weather, our 6 stops in Iceland were reduced to 2. We were issued with a cruise credit: 25%off the next NCL cruise. We had already booked and paid for our next cruise to Japan, through My Cruises/NCL (including flights). We asked MyCruises if we could use our cruise credit to upgrade to a balcony as we have a number of commitments/events already purchased in 2024, and would not be able to use the cruise credit otherwise. We thought that as this is our second expensive cruise booked though MyCruises in 2023, they would be helpful. Not so. After talking with a cruise consultant at MyCruises we were offered an upgrade to a balcony for $11,463.08. The total price we paid for 2 people, including flights, on this cruise is $16,000. Not sure MyCruises where the figure came from on an upgrade from an Oceanview to a Balcony. Although MyCruises are affiliated with NCL, they were not able to honour the cruise credit.
