You can't make this stuff up.

My wife and I had the most terrible experience with JUCY. The 1 star is for the amazing employee that stayed a bit late past closing time when our Greyhound bus was running late to allow us to still pick up our vehicle. Otherwise it would be 0. The rest... You tell me how they did... We rented a campervan from Brisbane to Sydney. Once the employee left, we realized that the port which the GPS connects to didn't work. We were relying on this as we were traveling without phone plans so already couldn't get to all the little spots we wanted to as didn't have directions. The real issue though was that about an hour into our trip, it just absolutely poured with rain the entire trip. Upon arriving in Byron Bay, we discovered a leak in our roof and my entire bag and all my clothes were drenched to start our 4 day trip. That, and my entire side of the bed was wet. Brutal. I couldn't call JUCY because they were closed, but also we were on a tight deadline with all our campsites booked and there were no locations between Byron Bay and Sydney to change a van over in. Woke up throughout the night with my entire bottom side of the bed soaked right through the sheets, seat, etc. All it did was rain, and all that happened was our stuff, sleeping area and van were getting wetter and wetter. We spent our trip hiding out in underground parking garages for hours at a time just to have breaks from getting wet. I spent countless hours with our sheets in dryers, clothes being held under handheld dryers in washrooms and not enjoying a single part of our trip. After a couple days, using gum, some duct tape I found and a reusable shopping bag, I was able to stop the leak.. so I thought. All seemed better in the back but when I went to sit in the front seat the next day, I must have sat in 2 inches of water. It simply diverted the water and I spent all my time from then on sitting on garbage bags. I booked many aspects of my trip through an outside agency, including having them book JUCY for me. They reached out to the company multiple times on my behalf. THEY EVEN SHARED THE VIDEO I TOOK showing the roof clearly leaking all over everything. I also shared pictures of my gum/bag/duct tape job on the outside and inside of the car. In the end, even after increasing their offer once, they only refunded $120 out of almost $800 in rental costs. The company who helped me book this felt so bad that THEY REFUNDED me an additional $80. JUCY stated that since 80% of the vehicle was still in functioning order, they should keep 80 % of my money. YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME. Anyone in customer service with half a brain on their head would say within 3 seconds that this is not acceptable, and absolutely all your money will be refunded. The van serves as your accommodation!!!!! Imagine a hotel leaking water from the ceiling on your bed for 4 days straight. They wouldn't say, "Hey your bathroom and TV still worked so we will keep 80 percent out of your money" They even stated the $120 was a "gesture of goodwill" and they hoped I will give them a chance to exceed their expectations in the future. SERIOUSLY? Bottom line, JUCY failed in the biggest way, even with clear video evidence showing how terrible our experience was. The engine light was also on the whole trip which created a bit of anxiety. While it's a cool idea to camp in these vans, they are all quite old and have a ton of miles on them. I am sure many people have issues with their vans and I can't even imagine what they would or wouldn't do if you got stranded. In the end, get a rental car, take a flight, hitchhike, do a ride share, stay in a hostel, sleep on the beach, or pay the extra for a hotel. Shame on JUCY for trying to even justify for a second any keeping of even a cent of my money. I only wish I could upload the video of the leak. It didn't stop leaking for 4 straight days.
