The Sidcup Banking Hub is not fit for purpose ...
Following the closure of retail bank branches in Sidcup, a local banking hub has been set up and is operated by the Post Office. Not only are the staff very rude and unhelpful, it turns out that nothing could be paid in as their SYSTEM only allows them to accept bank pay-in slips which have a preprinted bar code. Checking with Barclays Bank and other banks, they say they have NEVER had any pay-in slips with bar codes and do not know why the banking hub is inisiting on these. Cash withdrawals are also very limited and it is better to use the ATMs in the High Street or at the supermarkets. This is typical of many SYSTEMS which obviously do not communicate with each other and even if they did, the Post Office staff said it can take up to 14 working days before bank accounts are credited by the the bank - one wonders who keeps the accrued interest for these 14 days? Either better trained staff should be employed or we will be left with ignorant, rude and unhelpful staff. Give it a miss and travel to an actual bank branch whilst there still a few open!
