Overall we enjoyed the trip on board Princess Eleganza
Overall we enjoyed the trip on board the Princess Eleganza along the Croatia coast tremendously. The crew on board were very friendly, helpful and willing to engage. The food was plentiful and tasty if with some unusual combinations of ingredients. With some dinners available onboard, we also enjoyed the opportunity to dine ashore at the local restaurants. We appreciated the included house red and white wines at mealtimes but why not add a rose to the list especially as it was very hot and sunny, and in the mid 30s most of the day and mid 20s at night-time? The air conditioning did struggle to keep cabins and the dining room cool at these very high temperatures but meant that we really enjoyed our swim stops greatly and with a ship half full of Australians, we would have liked more such opportunities. Loved the smaller islands and ports but Split was rather disappointing. The cruise director, Cheri Coll, was clearly very experienced and built a great rapport with all the passengers, keeping everyone engaged. We felt very lucky to have her especially as she made sure that nobody onboard felt left out. The slight markdown is due to a couple of the included walking tours being rather tedious and rather like being on a school trip and also the rather unsatisfactory pre-cruise hotel in Dubrovnik. We were given a decent room with sea view but the food was definitely on the mediocre side. Really expensive booking the hotel through APT. We could have booked it cheaper online ourselves. We didn’t realise that the hotel complex was so massive and sadly quite a distance from the city of Dubrovnik itself so we felt obliged to eat at the hotel.
