Information given on their website is flat out wrong. They claim on their website blog: "Rent Increase Limits and Regulations Chicago sets specific rules for how rent can be increased. Landlords must provide at least 30 days written notice before any rent increase. Additionally, rent increases are capped at 5% per year, meaning a unit with $1,000 rent can only increase by $50 within 12 months. This regulation is part of the effort to ensure fair notice and transparency in rental agreements. These rules are designed to prevent sudden financial strain on tenants while still providing landlords the ability to adjust rent to reflect market conditions." This is 100% wrong. My landlord sadly just raised my rent 16% for the next year. I called the city and I called renters rights organizations here in Chicago. Landlords are allowed to raise the rent as much as they want.
