Princess Cruises are just a third class cruise alternative
Taken my first cruise with Princess was a dissapointing shock. I have taken cruises before with other companies and had great experiences. With Princess .... not even close! I booked a 14 day caribean cruise directly with Princess. They "forgot" to mention that they did not have one, but they book me in two consecutive 7 day cruises. We had to leave the boat and go againg through the customs and bording routine on day 8!. We booked 3 matrimonial rooms with queen size beds. They gave us too small to accomodate the bed, so we had only one night table and the bed was placed againts the wall. When complaining about this, they say that the boat was full, and that we had to "agree to disagree" that the rooms were not up to the standard shown in the brochures. They formally indicated that "we cannot show all the different types of room we have in the brochures. Service in the formal dinning rooms was awful. Waiters had no training, would pass the food to one passenger right in front of the face of another passenger, did not look very clean and had an attitude that makes you feel that they were making you a favor for assisting you. To note: We ask a waiter to take a picture of our table. He did so, but with a "selfie" placing his face in front, so we could remember him> As in all cruises, service staff was from all over the world. Unlike any other cruise we ever took, it was frequent to see ship stuff talking to each other in their language, even in front of the passengers they were helping. To complete the disaster, entertainment in the boat was the worst I ever seen. Some nights the theater remained closed and 4 out of the 10 or so shows they presented were "talent shows" where the ship staff competed with each other!. Faced with our stronger complaints, and after a senior person in Princess Cruises apologize for the "agree to disagree" statement, Princess "offer" to compensate for the bad experience, that we take another cruise at full price, and they would provide a $300 discount per person. Since Princess Cruises can be bought regularly at 50% discount at VacationsToGo and other agencies the "compensation offer was nothing but a joke. If you are taking a cruise ..... stay away from Princess!!!
