Enact Incompetence cost me ~£500
Was assigned Enact by my new lender. Initially started off with ok communication and things progressing to schedule. There was plenty of time to complete (over 2 months). However, through their own admitted incompetence, they didn't process the redemption statement from the existing lender in time (in fact they didn't bother looking at it until well after the original completion date). This put me onto a much more expensive variable rate, costing me ~£500. I had no warning, so was fortunate I had sufficient money in my account, or I would have gone overdrawn. They had to ask for a new redemption statement, but I received no communication from them on the progress of this. I formally complained, and received £50 compensation, so still £450 out of pocket. Their letter acknowledges that their organisation is so low cost/understaffed, it can't meet all completion dates, hence the other reviews complaining about missed dates. I have used many conveyancing solicitors over years, and Enact are the only ones who have missed a completion date. Avoid at all costs. I feel sorry for Abbie having to response to all the angry customers, as it obviously isn't her fault.
