This is the second time I've tried…

This is the second time I've tried iDrive; the first was 2018. Same issues this time around, except that I'm giving them 2 stars because customer service was very responsive. At least, until I began having serious problems. The system idea and basics are wonderful. Execution, not so much. Interface isn't terribly user-friendly, and when something goes wrong, it's really hard to isolate it. No one could figure out why my backups kept starting 7 hours earlier than I'd set them to begin. Also, the amount of CPU and system energy iDrive uses when it DOES back up is absurdly high. Mine went from seeming to perform well over 3-4 days to suddenly throwing nothing but error messages. It's also annoying that instead of the sort of incremental backups something like Macrium (on an external HD) do, when iDrive notices a "new" file (meaning, "changed"), it has to start all over again and create a brand new backup from scratch. That makes no sense, and I questioned it several times, but was told that's how it worked. I wondered why they were offering a year for $7.95, and then offering to give it to me free if I'd just leave a good review here. I no longer wonder.
