Poor tired hotel rooms

I will say that the staff in general were helpful and accommodating. However there was no decaffeinated drinks available in the room and only 2 bottles of water, which some of you would say that’s fine, and I would fully agree. As one bottle was sparkling and the other still. Therefore this left us with one bottle of water to drink between us both. When we went down for dinner my wife mentioned the problems and was told they would deliver some decaf tea and a bottle of still water. On return from dinner nothing had been delivered. The situation was eventually resolved after a further 2 phone calls. Our main problem was the room. I booked a superior double room with balcony, which in my opinion left a lot to be desired. The balcony I would estimate had not seen a mop or any kind of cleaning cloth in several months or year. The taps over the wash hand basin were severely tarnished and looked disgusting, the basin had a nice big crack in it and I would suggest had germs in the crack. The sink was partially blocked and I would consider had been for a while. I could go on with more but I won’t. In general the room was well below the standard to match the description. The food was ok but nothing to what we expected. In summary the whole experience was not what I expected from a high class chain with a high price.
