Kars4Kids Car Donation

Bad handling
I made a call to donate a non-working SUV on Feb 3. A rep called me on Feb 5 to arrange for towing. Due to weather, it was scheduled for today, Feb 7, between noon and 2 pm. As the vehicle is 30 minutes from my house, I made sure I was there prior to noon to take the license plates off the vehicle. After waiting for the tow truck, I called the tow company about 1:30 p.m. to confirm the truck was coming. They confirmed with the driver that he would arrive in about 30 minutes. Shortly after the driver called to confirm whether the donated car was working saying he was having problems with the tow truck and would be another 30 minutes. The driver called again 5-10 minutes later to say that he was not going to be able to come today. I contacted Kars4Kids directly to find out whether another tow truck was available to come today. The very nice woman I spoke with asked me to leave the keys in the car and they would tow the car without my being there. I put the keys in the car and locked it. By the time I got home, I had a text message from Kars4Kids that the cost of transit and processing the vehicle would "offset the benefit our charity would make" letting me know that they would not be able to accept my vehicle. After I waited 2 hours for them to tow it! And my car is now locked with the keys inside! I understand about not taking the car and the tow truck having problems. BUT they should have determined the lack of benefit to their charity long before they called me about picking up the car!
