This store is a complete scam
This store is a complete scam. I will never make a purchase here again. I spent three days negotiating with a supervisor at the Effy store on an MSC cruise ship. From the beginning, I made it clear that I was only interested in 18k gold, not the 14k gold they usually sell. On the last night of the cruise, around 11 pm, the supervisor sold me two rings and a bracelet, assuring me they were all 18k gold with white and yellow diamonds. He claimed he was too busy to prepare the certificate at the moment and would send it to my room after they closed. The next day, which was also the last day of the cruise, I received the certificate and was shocked to find that it stated the rings were 14k gold and contained only white diamonds. There were no yellow diamonds—just some yellow gold around the stones to make them look like yellow diamonds. I immediately contacted a cruise ship supervisor, and they got in touch with the Effy store supervisor. I asked him to put everything in writing, and this is what he sent: *"I'm writing the email to make sure we are going to find a solution to exchange the gold from 14k to 18k in the ring she purchased, and that the warranty will cover anything that happens with the pieces, and that the upgrade can be done with another value that is not double the value purchased. Thank you."* I waited over two weeks for a response. They finally got back to me, only to say: *"They will contact you to get a special order to make the same ring in 18ct gold, but unfortunately, there will be a cost involved. They will try to minimize it as much as they can."* So here I am, having already paid around $20,000, and they have the audacity to ask me to pay extra. It’s been almost two months, and I haven’t received the refund after I sent the items back the day after discovering the scam. This is for something sold to me as 18k gold and yellow diamonds that turned out to be 14k gold and white diamonds. Save your money and avoid these scammers at all costs.
