An approach that works
I am almost finished with 13 weeks at PLT nutrition and my experience has been beyond my expectations. I joined PLT after several years of gaining weight and, after buying yet another pair of pants, decided I needed to try something different. I went with PLT because they have a lot of clients in peri-menopause/menopause (I am in peri-menopause) and I didn't want to severely restrict either carbs or fat (I could survive on bread and cheese). I have found that macro guidelines provided by PLT are reasonable and I am able to fit the foods I like to eat within my ranges. This isn't to say that I haven't had to make changes to my diet - I certainly have. PLT does not have a magic formula that allows you to eat anything you want all the time. You need to track your macros and find combinations of food that fit within your ranges. It can feel overwhelming at first to track but it gets easier. I've lost the weight I wanted to lose over the 13 weeks (~20 lbs) and have decided to sign up for another 13 weeks so I can work on maintenance and to transition from counting macros to eating more intuitively. In the past, I would try to out-exercise my diet but working with PLT has shown me that nutrition is the main factor when it comes to weight. Exercise is certainly important to overall health but now I don't worry if I am exercising too little or not doing the correct things.
