Kafkaesque Customer Service experience
I just called the number 44 (0) 345 045 0355 listed on the National Geographic Traveller webpage under help section. Aldwin answered and let me explain my subscription issue (I missed a delivery and got a Royal Mail card asking to reschedule, but since the service is handled via Whistl, there was no tracking number on the note. I called customer service because I need a tracking number to reschedule or even understand where my delivery is). After explaining everything, Aldwin told me it was the wrong number and that I should call 01858 438787, the dedicated number for the Traveller magazine. So I called… and who answered? Aldwin again!!! BUT he acted like we’d never spoken ... even though we’d just spoken minutes earlier! He was clearly a real person, not an AI. Now, setting aside the fact that they can’t provide a tracking number (so your item is essentially out there and you’re left completely stuck), my point is: How is it possible to have someone so disengaged working in customer service? Someone so... mentally checked out (to put it in a nice way)?
