Potentially illegal per the Electronic Fund Transfer ACT.

UPDATE AUG 22: ISSUE NEVER FIXED. Still emailing me to try to force me to fund a jeapordized account. Illegal, too. Mailed parent bank (Middlesex) too. Blocking and moving on. Enjoy your charge off, Novo. You earned it. _________________ In JUNE, I attempted to close my Novo bank account due to multiple breaches in account security (not caused by Novo, but by external platforms connected to the account). I was told the account was closed, and I breathed a sigh of relief. Recently, I was informed that I must fund this compromised account to pay the attached Novo credit card. I offered to pay through safer means — check, money order, or another bank. Novo refused. Multiple times. This bumps right up against the Electronic Funds Transfer Act (15 U.S. Code § 1693), which prohibits coercing the use of an account that exposes the consumer to unauthorized or unsafe electronic transactions. Refunding a closed and vulnerable account just to pay a credit card opens the door to multiple unauthorized pulls. Novo — your customer service means nothing. Whether its a reply on here or directly within the app, ALL you have shouted so far is "You must re-fund the account" Let's be crystal clear. You are dancing on the edge of legal violation. I’ve already filed with the CFPB, and further reports are underway with the FTC and my state’s business regulatory division.
