Sneaky price increase after confirmation of renewal
Update to the review: The renewal date has now passed and I can confirm that Geoffrey insurance followed up as promised and has successfully resolved my issue. Initially I tried to fix the problem by contacting their customer services who didn’t seem to have the authority to take any action or to follow up as they had promised. Geoffrey customer services in the UK (contacted me via TrustPilot) confirmed that if you switch cards to make the renewal payment, their systems automatically recalculate the renewal price, hence an increase. They’ve warned me to expect a large price increase at renewal time next year - don’t know how they can calculate that 12 months away but….. Have amended the rating score to reflect that my problem was resolved but they still have work to do for customers. ————— They sent me a renewal quote which was acceptable. I renewed with plenty of time in second half of July They’ve now sent me notification that my car insurance will renew as agreed but when I read through their booklet I see that the renewal price has mysteriously been increased by an additional £27.86 making their overall renewal price increase £34.75. I didn’t renew on this basis and it feels like very sharp practice to sneak it into the confirmation documentation. I have the booklet with the renewal price I agreed to and which was sent before I agreed to renew! Nothing has changed for me or in the policy. The policy renews in 10 days so I hope I am able to go elsewhere without penalty. This is not a good experience!
